Eco Project Wane
Holistic approach to implementing programs for sustainable agriculture, reforestation and nature conservation as well as ecological education.
Our first project, the Wane eco-project in Indonesia, was created due to the increasing destruction of nature observed on the fascinating island of Sumbawa. Due to a lack of economic alternatives, forests are being converted into agricultural land and planted with monocultures. The damage to people and nature in the region is enormous and will continue to increase in the future without appropriate countermeasures.
Our vision behind Eco Project Wane is to create ecologically sustainable systems that enable communities to become self-sufficient while protecting natural resources and the remaining remnants of primary rainforest and all adjacent ecosystems.
To achieve this vision, we are creating sustainable buffer zones of secondary forests, food forests and permaculture farms adjacent to the remaining primary forests surrounding the Wane area. This is expected to result in a stable ecosystem that provides water sources and biodiversity and generates sustainable income for the local population.
In order to protect the last remnants of the primary forest and restore the ecosystems, we are working with farmers on concepts for the gradual elimination of destructive cultivation methods based on permaculture and agroforestry concepts.
